Airmate is a flight planning and weather app designed for pilots. It offers various features to assist pilots in their flights, as well as social sharing capabilities.

With Airmate's flight planning form, pilots can access up-to-date airport data, aviation maps, weather information, and NOTAMs instantly.

The app provides free access to IFR and VFR airport plates in the US (FAA charts), Europe, and over 200 other countries. These plates can be overlaid on the aviation chart and many of them are georeferenced. Airmate's Plate Manager enables users to download airport plates in advance, print them, and view them easily.

During the flight, Airmate's moving map displays the aircraft's location along the route, along with details of airports and aeronautical data. It also alerts pilots if their planned route crosses restricted areas. The app includes a profile view that shows terrain elevation, crossed areas, and forecasted weather along the route. Additionally, Airmate can display a backup aircraft attitude indicator and flight parameters in an EFIS-like view using internal sensors or a supported external AHRS-capable ADS-B receiver or supported aircraft avionics. Synthetic Vision is also available worldwide, displaying the ups and downs of rolling terrain ahead in the EFIS-like view. In selected countries, Airmate can display photographic landscapes on Synthetic Vision with the purchase of the Photo scenery option.

Airmate features a worldwide aeronautical database that is regularly updated free of charge. It includes airports, navigation beacons, waypoints, airways, obstacles, regulated and restricted areas. Users can download topographic maps and elevation data for most countries at no cost. Additional aviation map overlays such as US Sectionals are also available for free. The app's procedure database provides details of departure (SID), arrival (STAR), and instrument approaches in the USA. Users can add these procedures to their planned flight route, and the procedure path will be displayed on the aeronautical map, including curved paths and racetracks. Airmate is continuously working on adding airports in other countries to expand the procedure database.

When used with a supported external ADS-B receiver, Airmate displays nearby traffic on the moving map and receives FIS-B weather and NOTAM during the flight. The app is also capable of transmitting flight plan data to supported avionics like Dynon SkyView.

Automated routing is another useful feature offered by Airmate. Pilots can search and select the best route for their flight and then file VFR or IFR flight plans. In the US, flight plans can be filed through the app using the user's http://1800wxbrief.com account. Once filed, flight plans can be easily managed, delayed, or cancelled.

Airmate provides a recording feature that allows users to record their flights for later playback. Flight paths can also be exported in GPX format, and pictures can be taken from within the app during flights. The app automatically computes pilot log entries based on flown flights.

In flight planning or replay mode, Airmate offers a Satellite map display mode to help pilots familiarize themselves with significant landmarks.

The app saves planned and flown flights, user waypoints, and user aircraft in the cloud, syncing them between devices and Airmate's web flight planning platform.

Airmate also includes various social features for the aviation community. Pilots can leave ratings, tips, and comments to share their experiences with fellow pilots. They can also report fuel prices and handling fees. The app allows them to find friends, instructors, flight schools, aviation events, and aircraft available for rent near their home airport or any visited airport. Pilots can even share their planned flights with other pilots by indicating the number of available seats for additional passengers.

Furthermore, Airmate can be connected to most flight simulators to help pilots maintain their flying skills. It also manages AHRS and simulated traffic data transmitted by the flight simulator. Planned flights and personal waypoints can be imported and exported to/from flight simulators.
